SpTp: Politics of Inequality


This course will explore the sources, indicators, and consequences of inequality based on socioeconomic status, race, gender, and sexual orientation in the United States, and the impact of such inequalities on political processes and government policy. We will examine and discuss questions about discriminatory policies that have dominated our past, including cases such as racial segregation and unfair labor practices, and issues that have gained more prominence recently, such as unequal pay for women and marriage equality.
