POL*394*11 Description

SpTp: Women, War, and Peace

This course will cover a range of issues, which impact women as civilians, victims, perpetrators and combatants during armed conflict and in post-conflict peacebuilding. We will explore legal norms in human rights law, as well as recent developments in the prosecution of gendered crimes in war. Finally, we will investigate women's exclusion from the peacemaking and peacebuilding processes, with attention to how this impacts both women's agency and the quality of peace.
