*POL 394 11 The International Relations of East Asia

An examination of the history of and current interactions among the major states of East Asia -- especially Japan and China -- and their relations with the United States and other states outside of the region. Among topics to be considered are: the rise of China on the world stage, historical and current rivalry between Japan and China, and the historical American role in the region. Prerequisite: POL 104 or permission of instructor.
