BUS 394-11 SpTp: International Subprime Lending
Dr. Scout

Probably the most well-known subprime lender is 2006 Nobel Peace laureate Muhammad Yunus, founder of Grameen Bank. Bangladesh-originated Grameen Bank battles poverty by lending small sums of money to the poor. The loans are for income-generating activities. Overcoming poverty through capitalism! What a novel idea. This course will study the principles of Yunus; the effects of philanthrocapitalism (the Gates Foundation); the secrets of intangible wealth; and engage in the risks and rewards of online lending with the instructor?s personal money. The ultimate question is why don?t poor countries and poor people get rich. Looking at poverty and wealth from both micro and macro perspectives.
